Beware of the chameleon!

I was thinking about the ease we have in adapting to the environment we live in and the people we live with! It’s very common to see people make the same mistakes of others, close to them, and have the same attitudes. It all depends on the environment in which you live in!

If you want to please God, you have to pay attention to see if you’re not changing your behavior according to the environment and the people.

One example of that is that at home you give a bad testimony to the family while at church you show holiness, you’re a good girl, obedient with others and authorities; at school, you’re just like your classmates, and at work you have the same attitudes and wrong behavior as your coworkers, etc. That is, you’re not giving a testimony of the faith you say you have!

We cannot be like the chameleon that becomes the same color with the environment that he’s in!

We shouldn’t camouflage the true identity! If you have the identity of faith, assume it wherever you are, be different, stand out from others, don’t be like someone else just to be accepted, because one of the virtues that is much admired in a person, it’s when she is herself in all places, regardless of who she is.

The truth will always prevail and as hard as you try to hide, there will come a time when it’ll become visible to everyone!

God hates hypocrisy, and loves the sincere!

Assume your faith, and may your attitudes show the faith that you say you have everywhere!

Forgive, love, be sincere, genuine, have good eyes, be faithful, humble, and the reward will come, not from men, but from God!

“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.”

(Rom. 12: 9)

See you next week!

  2. I really like this post because being a youth it’s hard to try to “fit in” with everyone but this post allows you to realise that you don’t have to because there’s One who loves you as you are, rather than who you’re trying to be.

  3. This post was really helpful for me as it allowed me to understand how to judge if I am really pleasing God through the behaviour that I have. The best way to judge this is to see if the person that I am in the church is the same as the person that I am when I’m at work or university. It’s a good way to analyse myself and be sincere.

  5. We need to be ourselves , God chose us and molded us not to be changing the way we speak, or walk or even dress just because of the environment we are in. This is lack of character and do not please God.

  6. I really enjoyed reading this post! I was reminded that I need to always be sincere and also that wherever I go I must be one person, in fact a person that reflects good; reflects God and also to stand out from the crowd not fit in!
