What is the criteria?

“Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.
Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” (Matthew 9:35-38)

The work in the Work of God is immense and there is a large discrepancy in the service. Some workers give themselves exhaustively for the service in the Work of God: they evangelize all day; they help in many meetings; they do what is asked of them in the Youth Group; they clean the church from “corner to corner”; day after day. They are always available but at the same time always occupied by the service…

The service is very important and necessary, but generally such workers make fatal errors because they jeopardize everything they do.

Now see what happens:

  • Their lives are always busy, and so God cannot talk to them;
  • They generate bad eyes because they see others, who are not as agile as they are, as people who do not have the same fear they do;
  • They develop a dangerous pride for their salvation, because they rely on their service to “develop their spirituality.”

On the other hand, there is the other type of worker that prioritizes the spiritual: they meditate daily on the Bible; they pray; fast; make purposes, but when there is a necessity, they don’t move a hand. These do not see the work of God move forward in their hands.

Therefore, what is the behavior that pleases God?

Let’s see some examples:

  • The Lord had three servants to whom he had entrusted some talents. The one who hid his talent and did not multiply was disapproved.
  • Martha worked hard serving in favor of the Work of God, but was disapproved by Jesus when she complained that her sister was not helping her.

It seems like a paradox that Jesus disapproves of anyone that does not multiply while at the same time He disapproves of who is working … What is the criteria?

Their intention!
What is your intention when you do something in the Work of God?

“Fools and blind! For which is greater, the offering or the altar that sanctifies the offering?”

  3. Good evening Mrs Vivi,I was going through this post,what I got for myself is as a servant of God you have to first received for you to give,eg as the Samarithan woman firstly she received the word of God then she went to the whole city to speak about who she saw and what happened to her,so as servantsoon we must have our quality time with God so that we may have a word for those who are lost,and not to take the work of God as a protection.
    Thank you I’ve learnt a lot
