Jacob´s life – Day 1

Hello everyone. It is always a pleasure to be here with you. I have read all the comments on the Blog and they have marked my life.

 
Starting today, and over the few next days, until July 14, I will be talking about Jacob’s life.

 
Day 1

“Now it came to pass, when Isaac was old and his eyes were so dim that he could not see, that he called Esau his older son and said to him, “My son.”
And he answered him, “Here I am.” Then he said, “Behold now, I am old. I do not know the day of my death. Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me. And make me savory food, such as I love, and bring it to me that I may eat, that my soul may bless you before I die.” (Gn.27: 1-4)
 
What I want to highlight here is the advice Isaac gave his son, Esau.
 
Isaac was the son God asked Abraham to sacrifice. An elderly man sacrificing his son because of the belief he had in God. This act justified him before God, that’s the reason why Abraham was greatly blessed.
 
Isaac received his father’s blessing and was marked by this sacrifice. The advice he gave Esau was exactly the result of this inheritance. What had marked and made history in his life, what separated the “normal” and surprising from the supernatural.
 
But, Esau wouldn’t receive the complete blessing by Isaac just laying his hand over his head! Esau had to conquer it.
 
Certainly Isaac expected something in return, and before Esau went to hunt he advised him: “… Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me. And make me savory food, such as I love, and bring it to me that I may eat, that my soul may bless you before I die.”
The time is NOW! Note that Isaac did not specify what he had to hunt. He just said to take his weapons and go to the field. He had a herd, but he didn’t ask for that, so that Esau would belief in the blessing that he was about to receive.
 

Esau wasn’t like Jacob-who was a Cook-he was a hunter. After facing the beasts in the field, he would still have to make a delicious meal.
Isaac didn’t specify what to do, or what animal to cook; he let Esau choose what ever he wanted so that, after, he could receive the blessing.
 

This is exactly what I see that God does when he asks for a sacrifice; he doesn’t specify, because that’s how He will measure the kind of belief and consideration we have for Him.
 

God doesn’t give details on how to face your fears and insecurities. When He wants to bless you, He won’t facilitate it. We must conquer and materialize our belief. By simply receiving an anointing over your head with oil doesn’t imply that you have received the total blessing.
 

When I take the “weapons” that I posses and go out to the “field”, risking my life and doing things I don’t even know how to, because of the faith I have in God, then my belief will be evident.
 
What I present to God is what justifies me before Him.
