Self-sufficient assistant

While talking with an assistant, she told me about the difficulties and deserts that she was experiencing.

Her words were almost schematic. Her position before what was happening was of someone that was very secure and practical. It seemed like there was no pain and only a sense of self-sufficiency, as if she could manage to solve everything through the strength of her arm. And that is precisely where the danger comes into play!

You may ask, “But Luisa, isn’t that positive, the person feels secure and practical during difficult times?”

On one side yes, because the person is not easily shaken; but on the other side of the coin, it leads them to being independent from God, because we develop a pride that we can overcome ourselves … and this happens in a very subtle way.

In times of difficulties, we should make the most of seeking in depth what God wants to reveal to us. Because everything that happens in our life is not in vain, especially in the life of the righteous. God always wants to speak to us, reveal something new and we learn more about ourselves.

For this reason, do not allow yourself to be indifferent at the time of pain, as this will distance you from God.

There are many assistants that have stood-out in their service in the Work of God, they are active, always ready. But when it comes to solving what is within them, seeking God and doing his will, what He wants for their lives during difficult times … they lean on themselves, on their works and their knowledge. And they end up not taking advantage of these moments to develop their inner and personal being.

We must not forget that everything is permitted by God and often it is a way to draw our attention towards Him and develop a closer relationship; and fully depend on His strength, and not on the strength of our “arms”.

“This is what the Lord says: Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord…“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. (Jr.17: 5,7)

  1. Thank you for sharing this strong message Mrs Viviane
This is one of the things I have learn’t in Godllywood. To be too self confident or too much depending on oneself is dangerous because it may make you to think that you can do everything by your arms or by your strength. It is true that when we are facing the difficult moment, it is the best time where we need to be close to God, to listen to Him so we may learn.

  2. Through this post I learned that I should not be dependent to myself, yes, it is not wrong to feel secure and practical during difficulties but if I start depending on myself that is where the problem starts. We may not see it as pride but it is because not in many words we declare it that GOD cannot help me. I now know that every difficulty I face to learn something new about myself, so now I will allow GOD to speak also through difficult times, so that I will not create my own inner and personal being. I do not want to lose focus on GOD, so from now on He will take the lead because He knows what is best for me.

  3. During the assistants meeting this week i came to realize that i was becoming like Martha, and this message today ”blessed is he who trust in the Lord and whose confidence is in Him” explains more to me why i should invest more in Him than His work. Thanks Mrs Viviane

  4. I have recently became an assistant and the rebuke was on. I was very nervous and did not know what to do. Each rebuke I used to think of it as if the Pastor is trying to embarrass me or pick on me, but it was not like that. It was God teaching me what I am doing wrong through them. I had to think positive and have a clean heart. As an assistant I am still learning, I may not do anything perfect but I depend on God always. I do not depend on my own strength because I cannot do things on my own. I will always need His help, without Him I would be lost. He gives me the confidence, no matter how many rebukes I receive or the mistakes I have made.

  5. Good day thanks very much Mrs.Viviane, this is very powerful and eye opning message, because sometimes we let the situations to change us, so much that we even forget that with our own strength we can not do anything or go anywhere. Honestly this kind of messages help me to stand firm in the Lord, and truth is that I must not depend on my strength because I am a child of God that show my father is my guider my strength I must put Him first in all my plans.
