Self-sufficient assistant

While talking with an assistant, she told me about the difficulties and deserts that she was experiencing.

Her words were almost schematic. Her position before what was happening was of someone that was very secure and practical. It seemed like there was no pain and only a sense of self-sufficiency, as if she could manage to solve everything through the strength of her arm. And that is precisely where the danger comes into play!

You may ask, “But Luisa, isn’t that positive, the person feels secure and practical during difficult times?”

On one side yes, because the person is not easily shaken; but on the other side of the coin, it leads them to being independent from God, because we develop a pride that we can overcome ourselves … and this happens in a very subtle way.

In times of difficulties, we should make the most of seeking in depth what God wants to reveal to us. Because everything that happens in our life is not in vain, especially in the life of the righteous. God always wants to speak to us, reveal something new and we learn more about ourselves.

For this reason, do not allow yourself to be indifferent at the time of pain, as this will distance you from God.

There are many assistants that have stood-out in their service in the Work of God, they are active, always ready. But when it comes to solving what is within them, seeking God and doing his will, what He wants for their lives during difficult times … they lean on themselves, on their works and their knowledge. And they end up not taking advantage of these moments to develop their inner and personal being.

We must not forget that everything is permitted by God and often it is a way to draw our attention towards Him and develop a closer relationship; and fully depend on His strength, and not on the strength of our “arms”.

“This is what the Lord says: Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord…“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. (Jr.17: 5,7)

  1. This message spoke very strong, “everything is permitted by God, often a way to draw our attention to Him and develop a closer relationship with Him and deepening on His strength and not on the strength of our arm”. The solution to everything is in trusting and depending totally on God.

  2. Thank you so much for this post. I personally was touched by the message because many times we stand out to help others and even refer them to how Great our God is but when it comes to personal situations that we are meant to overcome with the help of God we tend to depend on ourselves and our knowledge instead. Many times I did this, I would lean on my own knowledge and theories and the end result is NO RESULT because of not fully putting our trust in God.

  3. This message is very strong for me. Because this is exactly how i react to my daily situation. I am always participating and offering my time for the service, a very handy person. And I tend to convince myself that i can overcome my dificulties on my own, i have learn to be strong, and be on my own. Because alot of time i ended up being disappointed with other people(flesh). With this attitude, I am struggling for years with the same situation again and again and i cannot see anything changing. Until recently I have decided, either the situation changes or God change me. By reading this article, i’ve realised that God wants to make me grow, He is trying to teach me to let go of what i think i know,so as to finally humble and be mould. Nothing is in vain for the righteous. Certainly there is something God wants to reveal to me, i’ll be more attentive.
Thank you Mrs Luisa and Mrs Viviane

  4. Thanks for sharing D.Vivi i really relate to this because I experienced it a few months ago. I found myself not moving forward and it was because of this depending on myself and it led to me being frustrated because things were not changing in my life but when I went back to depending on God and trusting in him i was no longer frustrated but instead I had assurance.

  5. This experience shows us that there is nothing we can do without God. It may seem okay in the beginning but sooner or later, we realize our limitations, and if we are not proud, this is when we “repent” and ask for God’s assistance!
