Assistant who waits to be rewarded…

In a conversation with Mrs.Viviane Freitas, we spoke of a very serious and real issue that exists in the middle of the “body” of assistants.

We commented on the intention and how we can in a very subtle way go stray from the real focus, which is to serve in order to please God and not ourselves.

The fact is that we need to be vigilant and the Lord Jesus has left us an alert. Let’s read together His warnings to avoid falling into sin and some day-to-day examples:

Matthew Chapter 6

1 ” “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.”
Example: Many assistants want to show the pastor holiness that she is more righteous, more fearful, more servant, more willing than others. They have a disproportionate need to prove who they are for men in order to be approved and accepted. They want to be seen and recognized!

2 ” “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.”
Example: When they bring someone to church, they do not rest until the pastor does not know, as if it were a trophy. It does not mean that they should not present their guest, but that this does not fill their interior of personal glory.
When cleaning the house of God, they only feel good when they are taking into consideration to clean prominent places and still make it a point to show that they are being “used”

3 ” But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing…”

Example: When the assistant does something for God, however simple or complex it may be, she should not praise or show HERSELF that she was chosen or is capable to perform such work. But must ignore the strength of her arm, as if she was not the one whose done it.

4 “… so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.”

Many assistants fall into the error of praying as “religious”, trying to show a faith, appearing to be very “powerful”. But when they are behind the scenes at home, or elsewhere, that faith is like a “straw” that turns off by the fire of the daily routine.

Many think that it is not happening with them, but if we look deeply within ourselves we will see in various day-to-day situations, the examples that were mentioned above and these are just the tip of the iceberg.

Perceive your needs and solve your issues, because notice how the phrases end:

“Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.”

I would like to know what you have to say about today’s post. Leave your comments because it is very important.

  1. Yes this is strong and it’s dangerous to other souls around because they are deceiving them, this can also relate to leadership in the VYG or members in the church who deceive. I remember going through this phase and I hated it, I always wanted to appear holy or well in front of the Prs, my leaders and to other youths but it didn’t go on for very long. It’s really deep because sometimes we don’t see how serious it is. Thank you for sharing.

  3. This is so true,
We have to really look deeply within ourselves to see who we are,
because sometimes we say we are not this person, but really if we look to see how we cheate our responsibilities when we are among people in authority and when we are by our selves.
This message should never be taken for granted let’s evaluate ourselves.

  5. Thanks for this. What I got is that everything I do I must do for God.As an assistant I should serve for God,not to show man or the pastor.God sees more clearly what I do in secret and he will reward me, than for what I do in front of others to show off.I should always remember that I will be exalted more for what I do in secret for God

  6. Thanks Mrs Viviane for this powerful message. It reminds me that everything that I do, I must do it to please God not a man and His reward is the greatest of them all.
