18th day – Why do you believe?

I would like you to write down now on a sheet of paper, what is the reason behind your belief…

Have you ever thought of that and wrote it down? Make a pause from reading this and then continue, because you need to learn to think, to use your intelligence so you aren’t “on the palm of anyone’s hand”!

“And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all that I ever did.” So when the Samaritans had come to Him, they urged Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days.
And many more believed because of His own word. Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.”
(John 4:39-42)

These verses stand out a lot because it’s about what we are talking about: believing in the Word of God not only through the testimonies. The woman believed because Jesus had pointed out her life, not by His Word.

After the Samaritans asked Jesus to stay with them two days, many had the chance to believe in Him.

” Now we believe, not because of what you said…”

Friend, you cannot believe in Jesus based on what I tell you, or only because of the testimonies. You cannot believe just because he “pointed” out your life. In order to believe in Jesus you must verify what you hear, to see if it is His Word!

That woman talked about her personal experience, just like each one of us has to see, hear and believe on our own through the Word we receive. This has to come to me in order to be able to testify that Jesus is the Savior of the world.

Many even say that Jesus is the Savior because they heard their parents say it or in the church, but they have not yet acknowledged it. And since they have not yet recognized their faults, they still do not see the need for a Savior. They are more concerned with their needs than with their interior.

But when we receive the Word of God, and it comes like the “water” that cleanses us of narrow, petty thinking the word itself makes us grow in faith and develop in a way that provokes admiration, and therefore we receive answers.

There are people who right now are waiting for a word, and that Word will not come from me, but from God! Do not expect anyone to understand you or sympathize your pain, because there is Someone much bigger: God, the Lord Jesus, who knows you completely, and knows your life story even better than you do.

Therefore, concern yourself in believing in Him, not because of the miracles you have seen in the Church; they are wonderful, but they only testify to people who have never had a personal experience with God, and need to see facts! But if you just believe because of the testimonies nothing will happen to your interior.

Even though we learn through the testimonies they do not transmit as much life as the Word of God, for only the Word brings into existence what does not exist in us.

When we allow that Word to reaches us, and we are sensitive to that voice we find the treasure, the answer, and the direction!

I would like to know from each one of you: Have you believed because of the testimonies or the Word? It is the Word that has revolutionized your life or the testimonies?

  2. I believe because of my own life testimony. Although i grew up in the church, learning to believe in Jesus, that’s all that made me believe, secondhand words and testimony of others and never a personal experience. But i believe in Jesus because in my experience he is the greatest Counselor, bringing a word to lift my spirits and /or set me straight, you could say He’s one of my Bestest Uber Friend.
