16th day – When we truly worship Him

“The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.” (John 4 :19-21)

That Samaritan woman was worried about the place where they should worship God. Many people are hoping to go to the Temple, which is being built in São Paulo, but only because of its the beauty, and physical aspect. When, in fact, our intimacy with God is not linked to anything physical, but to His glory and His presence.

Surely, it will be a great opportunity for all of us! Those who are preparing themselves not only to set foot on that place, but to present their life as a sacrifice, to renounce and surrender in order to please God, so that they may see His glory in their lives!

“You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. “
(John 4: 22)

Jesus was telling her that she only saw the physical part, and that in fact, our intimacy with God is not only about being “conscience” of His existence.

When did you, wife, began to love your husband? Was it when you got married? No! It was when you made a mistake and realized his great love for you, because he believed in you and forgave you. It wasn’t because of a physical attraction, but how he accepted you, took you, and helped you overcome your limitations.

And that is exactly what happens when I worship God, I do not do it because I am aware of the signs and wonders that He has done in my life, but because of His infinite love even though I made so many mistakes.

When I recognized how much of a sinner I was!

Many people in the Church when they are seeking and worshiping God they express what they have learned, but in reality you cannot physically learn to praise Him, only spiritually where we recognize Him as our Savior.

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. “
(John 4: 23)

This means that there are people who worship Him in a false why, not intentionally, but because they do not know God. They have not seen themselves as a sinner. And if someone does not see him or herself this way, how will they worship God like a “Father”? How can they worship Him if they do not know Him?

The true worshipers are those who speak with the Father, with God in spirit and in truth!

In spirit means that your mind is totally connected to Him in a way that you appreciate Him for what He has done in your life and the glory that He has manifested for you. Your words are what truly is happening inside you and how you feel about God.

“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.”
Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”

And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why are You talking with her?”
The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” Then they went out of the city and came to Him. ” (John 4 :24-30)

If you notice, that women still did not recognize Jesus even though He presented himself as Christ. She only had the feeling He was because Jesus had told her about her life and not because of who He actually was.

You must know God, not by what He knows about you, but by what you have seen about yourself! And then recognize that the words that come to you from Him, not just superficially, cause a revolution inside of you.

Do you want something more with God? Then learn to look at who you have been! This way, you will be constantly monitoring yourself.

Remember, it is written in God’s Word: “Watch and pray…”? There are people who pray a lot, but they do not watch themselves, and fail to notice that they need a Savior and to preserve their salvation.

Many say to be baptized with the Holy Spirit and think they are excluded from denying Jesus and making mistakes, and that they no longer need to monitor themselves. When in reality, what makes us closer to God and worship Him in truth wholeheartedly is when we are attentive to ourselves.

Leave your comment here…

Have worshiped God in truth or are you just aware of what you have heard about Him? Are you aware of His eternal love and mercy?

You might even feel guilty, but all these feelings of accusation come from the devil and not God.

When you hear the voice of God, “hear” His infinite magnitude and glory.

All who are participating in these forty days here on the blog, I would like to you to leave a comment. Whether it is your first or last day, but at least let me know what has happened to you.

A big hug and see you tomorrow!

  1. Hi Miss Viviane, very inspiring, thank you. To worship God, it a total surrendered, body, soul, spirit, and with all understanding to do His will on us. Denied our will, the will of our flesh. And walk with God is Spirit, by doing the things that pleases Him.
Before I’m not in God presence I’m ignorance about God words, about faith, I will with my own, and not paying attention of my spiritual life, living with my own life, still attached in the world, all I know before is to earned money, to enjoy life, going out with friends. But when everythings in trouble, I don’t known what to do. When I realized my mistake, I humble my self, and looking for Him to change me. He heard my prayer.
Thank God for bringing me to His House that my eyes are opened, He taught me how to worship Him in truth and spirit. To live by faith, and obedience towards Him.

  3. Hello Mrs. Viviane,

I was not able to follow your blog everyday throughout this 40 days but the messages I’ve read are always helpful to me. At times when I have a question, a message from your blog would answer it. The messages here are very spiritual which is something that is very important to me. Your message today is a confirmation of what I need to do. I have been in the church for 10 years now and I know how easy it is to fall into a trap thinking that everything is OK but as you have said, I still need to watch. I have to watch everyday and make sure that my faith is real and i am OK spiritually.

May God bless you more and more…

  5. Dear Mrs Viviane,

First I would like to thank you for the blogs.I recently started reading the blogs but I have learned so much and have grown in my spiritual life.

What I took for myself in the message,is that I shouldn’t worship God like I am reading a written prayer but I have to express what is inside of me and worship Him in truth and spirit.

    Thank you very much.
