15th day – What He has to offer you

“A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” (John 4: 7)

Friend, pay attention! The Samaritans at that time did not get along with the Jews, and Jesus asked this woman who was a Samaritan to give Him a drink.

Notice that the Lord Jesus is not ashamed to ask, He is not proud. And when He asks, He asks for something that is temporary like “water”.
Everything we have to offer Him is temporary… For example, if I take all my belongings and deposited on the altar along with my entire life, this will be a huge sacrifice because I need that to eat, live and supply my needs. But when I do this, I put myself in His Hands, and will no longer depend on those things.
What I consider as a “safety net” can give me security for a short period, but not forever. It will not resolve any internal conflicts that I may go through.

“A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.” (John 4:7-9)

If you only understood that what He asks of you is inferior to what He has to offer you. He doesn’t want to just give you a sentimental blessing, a steady financial life, or a physical blessing, but He wants to offer you eternal life!
How many times have you had everything and in the end you suffered because you did not have life!

“Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
(John 4: 10)

Sometimes the person is so concerned about his or her physical needs that in their head they are constantly thinking about these things, not realizing that what God wants to give you is an answer and a direction for life!

“The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again… ”
 (John 4 :11-13)

You want to fill the need in several areas of your life, this not wrong to want your needs to be met, but when that is your priority you are not desiring the water of life.

We are here to pass that on to you, precisely that same water we have received from God! The water that makes us dependent on God and not on the circumstances.

I, too, have needs, problems… if I told you about my experiences you would be surprised with so many conflicts, but I overcame! Because I have this living water I have answers, direction, and discernment. When my emotions try to take over me I put an end to them! This is the power that the Holy Spirit offers us.
I’m not perfect, but He gave me power to discern between right and wrong, and find answers when no one can give me them. I find refuge and assurance in my dialogue with God. Hear His voice!

And you too can have this water!

“…but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst…”
(John 4: 14)

I ask you: What type of water are you seeking? What are your concerns and what water have you been drinking from? Is it the “water” of a sentimental blessing, the “water” of your needs being met or the “water” of life?

If you really want the water of life, then your actions will prove it not just your prayers. If you nourish the Word of God in your thoughts, then you are interested in the water of life, but if you nourish your concerns, then you are more worried about the “water” that will make you thirsty again.

“… But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
(Jo.4: 15)

You can find answers here on the Blog as a source, with the direction to eternal life, because I sought and received the water of life. And I keep myself attentive, revealing thirst, and acknowledging my imperfections.

“The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.”
Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”
The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.”
Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.” (John 4:15-18)

God does not give the water of life to just anyone, but to those who are true and transparent…

When you are transparent you can find the water of life because you expose yourself by telling the truth without shame.

While the woman only spoke of Jacob’s well, the water, while she only observed the superficial situation, her internal problem could not be solved. If she understood this she would have never spoken of the superficial things.

Friend, prove to yourself if your prayer is emotional or done with intelligent faith:

When it is emotional you remain the same! But when you use your intelligent faith you expose yourself rationally, ignoring your emotions and valuing your belief, then in your day-to-day life you will naturally hate sin. And what is sin? Everything that makes you unrighteous before God, everything that makes you weak. Sin is what makes you weak and prevents you from nurturing a pure and sincere faith.

If you act with intelligent faith, being transparent, you will see results. You will be like a “lion”!
