Youth : Do you want to have thirst for God? Then stop drinking sodas!
We are in the faith of the Fast of Daniel and we’ve seen a lot of youths with many doubts: How do I receive the Holy Spirit?
How should I pray? How can I understand the Bible? How can I behave like a Christian?
These are many doubts, and these doubts reveal the obstacles youths are facing while trying to reach God.
God is simple. “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink”!
Let’s exchange all those doubts for one simple question: Do you thirst for Jesus?
When someone is not thirsty they don’t put any effort into reaching for water to drink. Especially when they try to quench their thirst with other drinks, meals or even activities that may make them feel like their thirst has been quenched.
How many fasts have you done, and have done them because you told yourself that they would be good for you, but deep, deep down inside, you weren’t thhhhaatt thirsty and that thirst could wait.
Why? Because in that moment your thirst was being fooled with “sodas” (friends, boyfriends, popularity, professional success, etc.)
When someone accepts these “sodas” (which by the way do not quench your thirst, instead make you even more thirsty shortly after you drink them) then they won’t value water, the only drink that truly quenches your thirst.
I understand that it may be difficult for youths to give up social networks, TV shows, going out with your friends, etc. But meanwhile your soul is being distracted by the temporary things that fill your ego (which may be fashion, popularity, wanting to show that you are spiritual and a hard worker, etc.), you will not seek or have the need of the spirit that can truly fill you.
Decide today to stop drinking these sodas for your soul! Your soul will quench the Water of Life.
