What do you like to do the most? (Part IV)

Do you see how your desires seek self-honor and self-glory? Do you see why God teaches us to serve Him and to stay away from any personal greed?

You can see that the things of God have nothing to do with the “world” in which we were created, or what we think is best for us; it has nothing to do with the fact that the we feel good about what we do, or the feeing of being “all-powerful” because we have grown in certain areas.

We all have something considered “beautiful” in our own eyes and we set our own priorities. These priorities can be many things, such as: beauty, fashion, fame, the security of being well seen and accepted by all, etc.

“… that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.” (Gn.6: 2)

The beauty of those women in which the children of men were attracted to can be referred to as the “gold” and not the altar. That is, when you nurture any intention other than just to serve and honor God.

Further ahead, the Bible states that God repented in creating mankind precisely because of the wickedness of his heart. The same corrupt heart that sometimes you say is new, wants to take the place of God. So the Bible says: “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?” (Jr.17: 9)

We can only receive a new heart when we are sensitive to God’s voice not to the “beauty” of what our eyes covet.

And I am the one who makes that choice!

Do not put your eyes on anything or anyone other than Him. Being close to me or anyone else, won’t guarantee you any type of assurance. That’s why, sometimes, it’s better to be alone even if you think no one is sees you, because this way you will only draw God’s attention. And that is the best thing… much more than getting the attention from others, because when we call the attention of the Father, He honors us!

  2. I understand that we should not serve God for our personal gain but to serve Him out of love for His work. We are only servants and He is the one using us. We must be humble and He will use us.

  6. this post reay opens ones eyes from putting them on the gold and rather onto God as number priority and definetly the things of God are different from those in the world eg in the world for one to be wise you have to conquer many things ie building of business empires, developing software but on God’s side one who wins souls is considered wise which is quite opposite.
