To serve (Part II)

There are several ways to serve, as we mentioned in the previous post, but God does not accept everything.

Someone who evangelizes, counsels people, is active in the Church, is not doing anything wrong, but how does this flow from within you?

If you are inactive, that is, your faith is inactive, when you counsel someone you only transmit the awareness of God’s Word, but not the life that is in God’s Word! You are not serving God. You are doing the “Work” of God like the Pharisees:

“Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.”(Mt.23: 26-28).

This uncleanness that the Word of God mentions, is when you ignore the fact that it is your duty to correct your mistakes, because you think that everyone makes mistakes! For this reason you tolerate your sins, live with them and only have the appearance of being holy.

Many, after receiving the Holy Spirit, think they do not have to take care of their salvation, because they feel they are already saved and do not need to maintain it. They just think about helping others and not themselves.

Serving God begins inside of me, and only after can I serve him externally!

  1. Good Day Mrs
Being a servant of God is defined by what you pass to people and not on the activeness in the church. What is important in the work is what is done through spirit not duty, yes in order to be used by God one can’t be siting in the corner and ask God to use her, she has to get out to the battle field and get to work, well being active is part of being a servant but being active without spirit is just fulfilling duties at church.

  2. Thank you Mrs Vivian for an encouraging message i personally used to think that when i counsel people and being active in the church I’m doing more for God when on the contrary what matters most is what i do for God personally because what’s within determines what will be done externally

  3. Putting our salvation ahead of everything else is extremely important. We can not work too hard to help save others yet we are not saved ourselves.

Even when we are completely certain about our own salvation, we cannot afford to neglect it, we must keep it well serviced. Just like we would regularly take our car for service so does our own salvation require the same care, regular maintenance.

It is true Mrs Vivian, after we received the Holy Spirit sometimes we think that now is time to help others only because we are already saved, we forgot that we have to look after our Salvation everyday, now I learned and my eyes are open.
    Thank you Mrs Vivian

  6. Sometimes it’s a lot easier to help someone else to move forward but I learnt that by focusing on them rather than on yourself is hypocrisy, they’re moving forward and you’re not.
Your salvation also needs to looked after every day otherwise you will loose it.
