The DNA of God

Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” (Luke 1:34)

Becoming a person of God, a new creation, and having His nature is not the work of a man. No one can sow this seed in us, but the Spirit of God.

What makes a person be born of God is not arm strength or his/her closeness to someone who is ‘powerful’—whoever he may be.

How does it happen, then?

First, character. I have to stay away from what contaminates me, from what displeases God.

There are people who are in the process of self-discovery. And so, they have already gotten rid of what is harmful to them. This will result in their total surrender—which will revolutionise their lives forever.

When this happens, it’s because they themselves—and no one else, not even God—decided to deny their own will.

They got rid of everything that separated them from God and, as a consequence, the Holy Spirit will come upon them—not driven by human influence, but as a result of their relationship with Him.

Mary did not have the Spirit of God, yet she remained pure, upright—in character and behaviour.

The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you. (Luke 1:35)

But for this to happen, we must protect our inner purity and reject everything that is contrary to the will of God. Only then will He find a place to sow His seed—that is, His DNA—in us.

‘My way’ will always exist and, as time goes by, it will start trying to interfere with my decisions… This is why it’s so important to prioritise God—not just because it’s what the Bible teaches or because the church says so—, but because I desire Him with all my strength.

The more steps I take towards God, the closer I get to Him. And this happens regardless of your circumstances.

If I decide to believe… Wherever I am, there His Spirit will be also, for His eyes run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him!

  1. This message really touched me as I was reading it. mary said ‘… I dont know this man’ Luke 1:34 but we see that she remained true and faithful to Him. Change does not happen by force. When we found the living God, we knew within our hearts that He was the one and nothing could convince us otherwise. We did all we could to learn from Him, follow His teaching, reading the bible s that we could know Him more and His will for our lives. We spent time meditating so that He could speak to us as we would isolate ourselves from everything else in order to hear His voice.
Having the DNA of God is from changing our own will, desires just so we may be like Him.
