The assistant and the way she advises to people

Today, I’m going to talk about something that some assistants have forgotten when they deal with people in the church.

What are you talking about?

There are some assistants who want people to go and talk with them instead of taking the initiative to talk with the person and start a conversation.

Some days ago, an assistant, came to talk with me in a chat and told me that she didn’t go to talk with people because she didn’t want to be inconvenient and it wasn’t also her problem. Then, I made her see that she couldn’t think in that way because it wasn’t what God had expected from us.
On the contrary, God wants to see in us another attitude and boldness to use our faith with energy and indignation to save the souls who are in the devil’s hands. Is that what we’re doing?

To be honest, a pastor can’t talk with everybody individually and take care of themselves all the time. That’s the reason why the work that the assistants do is too important. They’re the helpers of the pastors. So, you have to do it with responsability and commitment.

You should remember that you have a call and that call isn’t only for you to be beautiful in the meetings and show your uniform to everybody. No!! God have called you to help those whose soul is sad.

But, you have to leave your comfort zone and be against the tendency of doing what everybody does and go to the war.

Another important issue, is the way you receive people when they arrive at church. It doesn’t matter if they are members or people who go for the first time. You may be well-dressed, with a happy face and trying to be nice. We’ve seen that a lot of assistants seems to be angry and that’s not a benefit. It makes people be far from them. If this is your case, you should work in this aspect and change your behaviour.

What’s more, it’s important to make you remember that the conversation you have with people have to be with determination and God’s direction. In case you don’know the right answer to the person in that moment ,you don’t have to feel bad or with shame. You have to be humble and tell the person you’ll talk with the pastor and ask for his opinion. You should never advise people in a hasty or childhood way.

Could you see yourself in this post? What has called your attention?

  1. Whe sometimes you dont know what you will say then humbling yourself and alerting the member that you will speak to the pastor and ask for his opinion. That is what caught my attention. Showing that after all you may not in all aspects know how to direct the answer the member needs. It’s bettr to be humble and ak the pastor’s help rather than convince yourself that you right or ‘think’ you are t\right, because we have to remember that is a soul, and whatever answer you may giive can either uplift them or destroy them and our Goal and Purpose is to help and save the soul, uplift them to be in active with their own Faith.

  2. What called my attention was what you said about assistants seeming angry. For a while I thought that when I serve I should not smile or distract myself by waving or greeting people in the service as they come in. I started to notice that the pastors wife would do things differently, and was always smiling and waving and was very friendly. I then noticed that people would prefer to talk to her over me and I realized that it was exactly because of what you said. I seemed angry and unapproachable. So I changed this about myself and now I find that God is using me much more! It is amazing how just a little change benefits the work of God greatly!

  3. Thank you for the advice, it truly does help wake us up.

We need to know that we were anointed by God to help people who need to be rescued, irregardless of what I feel as an assistant I need to have the right frame of mind and know that I am there to save souls and the uniform I wear stands as a symbol that says to God “here I am, use me as You will”.

Obeying the will of God as assistants usually goes against what we feel like doing.

Thanks again for the wake up call.

  6. Thank you Mrs. Vivi for these advices. I noticed that some people are aloof at me and I don’t know why. I didn’t like that. Then I heard some one commented that I look serious, and I told myself that it is not true. I want to look approachable,I don’t want people being afraid of me. Then I found the problem with me, I found out that I don’t smile a lot. That’s why they say I’m serious. The power of smile. I’m on the smiling mode now. I don’t want to be branded as serious. How can I speak and counsel people if they are afraid of me. Thank you.
