Immature… me?

When I started writing this article I thought of something I have currently experienced. Every day I come across things and situations where I am forced to realize that the lack of experience has made much difference in my life. I realized that immaturity might be present in every moment of our lives no matter our age!
With that, I started thinking about what it really means to be mature… and I came to a conclusion: Maturity, contrary to what many people think is not when you reach a certain age or when you go through many things in life. There are people who have been through many things but are still immature or there are those who have matured in some ways and not in others.
Actually to be mature is to understand that everything you live today is the result of what you did or sowed yesterday. When you know that you’ve walked with your own legs to get where you are and to be aware that what happens to you doesn’t depend on other people’s action but your own.
When we expect our own achievement to come from other people in anyway it will lead us to deception and frustration, it will make us blame others, and even God for our failure.
Like that we don’t take responsibility of taking care of our own lives. Easy, right?
Normally immature people live in their own “little world”, are inconstant, their change mood changes often, and when they are frustrated they take it out on the first person that crosses their path. Often someone who has nothing to do with the story! How many people does this remind you of?
To be mature is to assume our difficulties, our fears, recognize the weaknesses and deal with our limitations. To know that it is through our efforts and pure faith in God that we can achieve our goals. But to also understand that even God will do nothing if we don’t and when you’re defeated, be mature enough to know that if something went wrong it was your own responsibility.
If we can recognize this, we know that just as we got in to this situation, we can with our own legs find the path we must follow to achieve our goals.
These are the afflictions the Bible speaks of, it serves as an example for us when we live situations that were caused by our immaturity, and they lead us to an even purer faith and an unshakable confidence. James 1:2 teaches us how to face difficult situations:
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
And just below that it says that if we are lacking wisdom to ask God for it, and He will give it. Just believe without doubting!
Maturity is directly linked to the Wisdom of God. Look what this verse teaches us. Is this not what we see in mature people we know:
The wisdom that comes from heaven is pure, and also peaceful, kind and friendly. It is full of mercy, produces good fruits from good deeds it does not address others by their appearance and is free of pretense.
Meditate on it! Kisses!

Many people still believe maturity comes with age but I also beg to disagree with this, many times you see age coming alone.Learning from our past mistake and avoid repeating them makes us mature. When we respond with the word of God in all our trials without finding fault with others, this also makes us mature.

Awesome message because my sister and I always have discussions on what it means to be wise and mature. Having wisdom is something that we hold in high regard. A lot of times we are our own worst critics and I love how this message teaches us that being mature is not necesarilly knowing everything but learning from your mistakes and making yourself a better human being in the process. Best regards
