Beautiful nails, skin, and soft silky hydrated hair! Tell me what woman doesn’t want this?

I can speak from personal experience in saying that, as the years go by our skin and hair get drier. Our body is made up of 75% water, which means drinking water has to be a priority.

A while ago, I wrote about why drinking water is so important for our bodies and the reality is most of us don’t always drink the recommended amounts of water a day, which is a minimum of 1 ½ liters per day. That’s why I am going to share some tips so that together we can reach our goal of drinking the right amounts of water for our body to function properly.

Water alone is always the best thing, but there are other things that can also help us increase our water intake: Fruits that have a large percentage of water such as watermelon, melon, strawberry, pineapple, orange, and vegetables like radish, tomato, cauliflower, and carrots among others are great choices. Just like cooked legumes, broths and soups.

In addition to that you should drink one cup of water (approximately 250ml):

After waking up
Midmorning
30 minutes before lunch and dinner
1 hour after lunch and dinner
In the evening
Before sleeping

You should drink 8 glasses of water per day.

If drinking water alone is hard for you then try drinking herbal teas. At lunch you can make lemonade without adding too much sugar and if possible try to use sweeteners instead.

Flavored water: You can add some flavor to your water by adding a few slices of citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons or a few pieces of other fruits like strawberries, blueberries or kiwi add ice and then enjoy.

At work: Always keep a water bottle near you. If you prefer you can keep a 1½-liter bottle along side of you and drink it throughout the day.

Apps: There’s no excuses, “I FORGOT” , you can set an alarm in your cell phone so that you remember to hydrate your body all the time. Or use an app that reminds you to drink water like “Water your body ” or ” Drink-O-matic “. It’ll be a great way to see your progress throughout the day and week.

The challenge is to drink 1½ liters of water every day. Who’s in?

Until next week!

  1. Mrs Vivian, you know by drinking the 1,5 litre water also helps a person to feel revived, no more tiredness. After a while a person get so used to drinking water, and your ideas makes it even more accepting. Thank you.

  5. Thank you Mrs Viviane and Mrs Katia.
I’m definitely going to use your advice and add fruit to my water when drinking it – I’ve heard this advice before but I never followed it and as a result I found drinking water to be boring and difficult. The pictures you have put up make the water look really delicious and I can’t wait to make my own.
    Thank you.

  6. Hi Mrs. Vivi and Mrs. Katia,

I read this post not long ago. And as you suggested I downloaded the ‘Water Your Body’ app. Since then I have been conscious of how much water I drink. I didn’t realise how little water I drank. I already knew that 75% of our body is made up of water, but that fact was just in the back of my mind so I just ignored and forgot about it. I have decided to take my health more seriously since I have experienced various issues which could have been avoided or easily resolved or handled if I had just taken care of my body. Since I can’t go back in time and living in regret is a no-no, I have decided to pay more attention to my health and not neglect it. Something which has been on my mind is that God can’t use me if I am sick and neither can I give my best in my life or glorify God as I should if I am always ill or negligent towards my health. Drinking more water has become one of my goals. I haven’t been able to drink 1.5 litres of water a day yet, but I have been pushing to drink more water (plain water or teas). I will get there. Please keep sharing these posts. I’m not sure yet if you posted anything about how to have a balanced diet, I would appreciate it if you could post articles related to that or direct me there :).

    God bless you always,
