From Children to Parents : The tip of the “veil”

This expression means that there is far beyond from what a person or situation shows us, or that we can see at first glance. Basically they are the signs, or just a “sample” of something of a larger dimension.
When the tip of the “veil” is unveiled, and we really want to see beyond, this will imply a search, a careful search in order to see the profoundness of who we are, what we do, and in what way we can resolve a situation.
For example, how can you see a person’s character? How do you know her spirit and true intentions, if you do not live with her?
Through the attitudes! If she already reveals in her attitudes, for example, bad temper and aggressiveness, how will she be after gaining trust and intimacy?
Often we fail to be attentive to the signs, allowing ourselves to be led by feelings or free will, and we end up missing opportunities to make the right decisions in our life, both for ourselves, and in the family area, and on a daily basis. Even in order to prevent serious health situations that could have been avoided if we were attentive to the small details that turn out to be crucial.
For example:
– Many parents, for “blindly” loving their children or because they are too involved with their chores, do not see the “signs” of them distancing themselves from home and the family communion until they engage fully with strangers with bad habits or addictions. Parents who we listen to at Church, even tell us that their children would never do such a thing … refusing to assume the reality!
– Many more cases are related to people looking for their ideal partner. Perhaps after many years of waiting, that which should be “signs” begin to be considered as “normal” attitudes: A rude word; instability; a suggestion contrary to the true faith … If the person is not really attentive or vigilant, eventually they surrender to a situation, whose fruits will prove to be bitter in the future.
This does not mean that we are distrustful people, or that we can “control” everything. Definitely not! There are choices that only the person does, without the influence of anyone! But if we are attentive, vigilant and aware, we can more quickly see and reverse a “trap” that is forming before us.
It’s just like in a “ring”! Have you ever noticed in a ring, the way the fighters are attentive, anticipating every move and blow from his opponent? There is no room for distractions!
And perhaps you may ask: “Could it be that God does not deliver us from evil?” Yes, without a doubt, but He will never make a choice in our place! Above all, He will respect our choices even when they are not subject to His will. He is the beginning of justice, and that is why He cannot influence the free will that He Himself has given us!
“Be sober, be vigilant; because[c] your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (I Peter 5: 8)
If we remain vigilant and attentive to the signs without deceiving ourselves, surely we will be able to see where we have failed, and work to correct it, also helping those around us.
