16th Day : What are you thinking?

Hello to all cybernauts!

It is a pleasure to be here with you. Today is the 16th day of the Fast. There are only a few days left for it to end. But it doesn’t have to end if you still haven’t reached your objective with the Fast.

Today the question is as following: “What are you thinking?”

Accompany me in the book of Deuteronomy, chapter 15, verse 9:

“Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, ‘The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the Lord against you, and it become sin among you. You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because fort this thing the Lord you God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand. For the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘You all open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land.’ ”
(Deuteronomy 15: 9-11)

Notice that in the beginning it says to guard your heart from wicked thoughts, in other words: stingy, base thoughts; thoughts with lack of consideration in your heart!

Remember during the 1st Day of the Fast, where we spoke about the heart?! Of how it is and what you have in your thoughts… To look at the thoughts in your heart! It is your soul, you nourish these things within so you have to guard yourself, so that there are no petty, base thoughts or any lack of consideration.

“…saying, ‘The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’…”
(Deuteronomy 15: 9)

In the seventh year, they (the Israelites) had to give something to their “brother,” to the needy. Pay attention to the following: This is in the Old Testament, in the time of the law.

“…‘The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the Lord against you, and it become sin among you… ”
(Deuteronomy 15: 9)

Who is this poor brother? It isn’t only those who do not have financial conditions… When it is written “poor”,  it is the needy, and who isn’t in need in this life? All of us! And you ask me: “How, Viviane?” Every one of us needs each other, we need people to serve us just as much as  we need to serve others. For example, when you are a house maid, do not think that just because you have less conditions than your boss, that you are poor and needy that they have to be charitable to you. No, that is not it! Both the employer and the employee have their needs. The boss’ needs need to be met, they need to served by their staff, and the employee and staff have their economic needs as well as their free day or day of rest. Each one has their own needs!

When it refers to that period of time, in the year of release, it means that a person had to give something to someone who was in need, it was a law of the seventh year. And sometimes, you look at God’s law like this: “Look you need to forgive…”, “you have to be sincere”, “you have to look with good eyes”.

And you look with bad eyes and say: “Okay…. I am going to look with good eyes”, “Okay… I am going to forgive you, forgive me okay? Forgive me, sorry if I did anything…” But here it says:

“…and your eye be evil against your poor brother…” (Deuteronomy 15: 9)

In other words, that wronged you.

“…and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the Lord against you, and it become sin among you…” (Deuteronomy 15: 9)

If you commit an error, if you there is no consideration on your part with me, or vice verse, and I cry out to God, there will be sin, an injustice! Imagine yourself being burdened, or I being burdened, in such a way that there is no compassion, or consideration for others around you. It’s not just because you are a boss or an employee that you don’t have to have consideration; both have to have it.

“You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because fort this thing the Lord you God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand.”
(Deuteronomy 15:10)

Sometimes a person commits the following error: “I am going to do it!” but “does” it in a negative way, with a bad heart, with wicked and petty thoughts… and says: “If she didn’t do it with me, then I won’t do it as well!” You want to return evil with evil. And God says, “and your heart should not be grieved.” When you go and forgive someone, you have to do it because in you there exists a necessity, and not because you are obligated to do it, because the seventh year has come or because the Lord told you to ask forgiveness… And you continue with that rancor, with that memory; you do not forget or forgive, and you make your life difficult, you’re not considerate. You are a “scrooge” and say: “If she didn’t lend to me, she didn’t give it to me, then I will not give… They have to understand!” That my cybernaut friend is a wicked thought!

My cybernaut friend, be whomever you are, with wicked, base, stingy thoughts, you can be any person, baptized with the Holy Spirit or not.  That is the reason for the alert: “Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart…” We have to beware because Jesus said that good is the Father, we are not good…. God is good!

Understand once and for all, that you are not a goody-two-shoes, that you have all the reason, that everything that you think and feel is right… No! On the contrary! You have to always be “mistrustful” of yourself. Why? Because you have already thought, felt, and said what you should not have done! Just the fact of thinking and feeding that thought, that you didn’t make a mistake because you didn’t do anything! Yes, you are wrong! Because you are feeding and acting in the wrong way!

That is why God says:

“…You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because fort this thing the Lord you God…”   (Deuteronomy 15:10)

He is going to bless you, because you guarded your heart from these wicked thoughts.

“…will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand.”   (Deuteronomy 15:10)

God will bless your works. Maybe you are passing through a financial problem, through a tough situation, and sometimes you aren’t successful because of these wicked thoughts… and these could be targeted at your boss, and maybe even in your offerings to God and in your challenges with Him. And you think: “See, look, I give my offering, my everything, and then I am not blessed!” You have to give not because of some imposition, because when there exists sacrifice, you give freely, because you need to do this! And you recognize that you have to give, that your thoughts are being wicked, that you have to guard yourself and you say: “It’s tied up this thought! Because I gave my offering, I sacrificed, and now I am with this thought! It’s tied up! I am not going to defile myself! I gave of my own free will and I will not contaminate my sacrifice!” And this is true. When someone gives of their own free will, these type of thoughts don’t come: “Oh… I gave, I am being robbed, they are evil, and take advantage of the goodness of our heart, etc., etc., etc…” And it is exactly when you give that these wicked, base thoughts, with total lack of consideration, come. When you are giving your offering, your sacrifice, what are you doing? You are giving so that others can be saved! That is the reality! But many stay with these wicked thoughts, and think that it goes into our pockets, for our own well being…

Cybernaut, watch what you are thinking, and look at your heart! Because these  wicked thoughts comes from the heart.

“For the poor will never cease from the land…” (Deuteronomy 15:11)

Necessity will always exist…

“ therefore I command you, saying, ‘You all open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land.’ “ (Deuteronomy 15:11)

We all have to give of our own free will, without being forced, or obligated, or feeling bad because the Pastor is asking or because someone needs and you have to do it because the asked you. No! You have to do it because you need to do it, and you have to give up being selfish.

I hope this post has helped you. If it has helped you, tell me why!
I am awaiting your comments and I will be very happy with your sincerity.

A big hug for you all! Tomorrow we will be back!

  1. Thanks for the message Mrs Vivi it’s very strong. Sometimes we pay less attention to our thoughts & they are what determines who we are before God. I’ve learnt a lot in this post.

  3. Thank you so much for the message…i realize that there are thoughts that the devil throws in our minds time and again but there are others that are born inside of our hearts when we don’t do our part of guarding our hearts, when we allow ourselves to be selfish..my eyes got opened because sometimes i would give an offering in the church maybe it being my last money but from there comes thoughts that nothing is happening or that i shouldn’t have given everything. Sometimes as well when people need my help i’ll think they are not working hard enough to help themselves but now i realize these thoughts are wrong.
Sometimes it is not that the devil is responsible for everything bad, not that i support him,but that there are things inside of us that we ourselves are not solving, hence we displease God without even realizing.
I have already started to watch my heart and fix my thoughts. Thank you so much..you highlighted something that is very deep that we normally don’t realize..may God bless you and use you more

  4. Thank you Mrs Vivi for the post, as I am reading the Holy Spirit showed me the mistake I am committing in feeding these thoughts and then also finding a way to justify this evil act, I am in a situation right now where I had to help someone and I thought to myself she cant be asking me now, she should have asked when she saw me yesterday and I realize now that these are the kind of thoughts that causes lack of consideration for the need of the person regardless of when and how they have asked for help. I have learned that I should guard my heart, I have to do what is right to protect myself from the evil thoughts which will require me to go against the selfishness of my heart.
