Would you have the courage of Jochebed?

Watching the soap opera “The Ten Commandments” of Rede Record, something very strong caught my attention, and God spoke to me then and there! That is why I would like to share it with all of you.

Many were the times when I didn’t trust my son to be able to do certain activities, or I was afraid to let him go and try to see how he would do, simply because I didn’t want him to be disappointed, and also because I didn’t like to let people see his limitations and “debauch” him. With that, without realizing it, I held Gabriel back, limiting him and making my, and not God’s, will be done in his life.

But when I saw the scene of Jochebed putting her child in a basket in the streams of the Nile River, not thinking that he could flip around and drown, be swallowed by a crocodile, or even die of hunger, cold, and thirst, it’s like He was telling me:

“Would you be like her? Would you put your child in a basket and let him flow through the river, trusting in that only I would take care of him?”

I am sincere in saying that my thought was, “No!”

And then … The answer came: “Then maybe that’s why God’s plans have not been fulfilled in his life”

Dear Mom and friend, Jochebed trusted God, made Him her only hope and solution, she gave her son’s body, soul and spirit to the Only One who could save him—and that’s why God could fulfill His plans in Moses’s life.

Now it’s up to us to hold or surrender our children to Him, and decide whether in the future they will be servants of the Most High or just one more person in the crowd.

It is in our hands!

  1. Thank you Mrs Josiane for sharing, even for me who is not a mother I asked the same question to myself regarding my way of seeing things and realized that is why God has not yet revealed His glory in my life as He wants.
