Matthew 9.27-31

When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”

They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”

Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.”

And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, saying, “See that no one knows it.” But when they had departed, they [g]spread the news about Him in all that country.

  1. Hi Mrs. Viviane, thank you very much for sharing this meditation. Before listening, I meditated myself as you suggested we do and wanted to share what God spoke to me. What stood out to me was the humility the blind men had. They could have thought to themselves, I don’t need to follow Jesus into that house. If he wants to help me, He should come to me. Can’t He see that I’m blind? Or maybe, they could have followed Jesus but with the attitude of demanding their healing as if Jesus owed them something because of all the suffering they went through as victims of blindness. Yet, they only asked for mercy. They understood that they were sinners, and that Jesus was their savior. They understood their place and approached Jesus with appreciation and humility. That is why I’m sure Jesus was happy to respond. Today, we see a lot of people suffering but they don’t receive an answer from God because they view God as a waiter or servant. They see God as the one responsible for their suffering and think that God owes them something. If we want Jesus to respond to us, as He did with the blind men we need to be humble and understand that we don’t deserve Him but by faith we will receive.
