Package labels are made to fulfill a legal obligation and not to draw your attention to the colors, letters and the product logos.
They exist to inform us of what is inside the package.

Now, if informing is the main reason these labels exist then what rules should package labels follow?

  • Detailed information about its components
  • Calorie content
  • DV (percentage of daily values)
  • Where it was manufactured
  • Expiration date
  • Preservation method
  • How to use it

Today we will observe why this information is important and in the next post we’ll share many “surprises” we often find when we carefully read the labels of the products we take home.

Let’s observe the following:

People who are intolerant to certain foods should especially read the labels carefully before purchasing them, that way they will avoid ingredients that easily go unnoticed in the preparation of many-processed food.
The wrong selection can lead to an allergic reaction or more serious consequences.

The preservation of the product is important, if the rules of its use are not followed because labels are not being read this can make the properties of the product change and this can cause serious health issues.

Calorie content is very important and relevant for dieters that are counting calories so that they can have a clear understanding of the proper portion sizes they should consume to maintain a balanced meal.

The expiration date, which oddly enough often goes unnoticed by many buyers, is of the utmost importance. Consuming products that are out of date can cause food poisoning.
If it is expired, then it means that the components are no longer in perfect condition for consumption.

That’s why it’s much more than just a label, and we’ll be talking more about this next week. Make it a habit to read the product labels before you purchase something and NEVER buy unlabeled products!

Take care of your family by knowing exactly what you are taking into your home and don’t miss out on the next post where we will be sharing some products that contain some ingredients you never thought you’ll find in them.
