Insecure Parents

We begin from the principle that there are no perfect parents, just like no human being is…. But you know when you look at a bailiff, a teacher, someone with authority, and expect a certain type of behavior and attitude?

As a child, I observed these people and thought they were perfect; that they were all an example of good conduct, because of the position they occupied. Now imagine parents: they are our “heroes“. From them we expect support, comfort, safety, answers to everything … even to the most difficult questions to which no one can answer!

When my mother left home, I stayed with my father and a younger brother. But at that moment, I felt helpless as if both parents had left! This is because in view of the situation, my father was also shaken and insecure before the problem that came upon us. Was it reasonable? Yes of course! Without God and without any direction, any human being is subject to prostrate themselves before a problem.

I was not disappointed; at that time, I was more concerned with resolving myself. But someone had to take a temporary position, even at an age where it was not supposed to happen. And some things, such as childhood, ended up getting “lost” along the way…

But the situation has to be differently when we have already received instruction and have the Word. Here, we cannot accept to stay prostrated for an undetermined time, before a problem or difficult situation.

Remember, father and mother, that you have the authority at home, and if you don’t assume it, someone will take over your position, as the devil did in the Garden of Eden.

Your children need a strong figure, someone that arises and takes control of the situation, to pray for them and to be “brave” to make decisions, even during the moments of great tribulation. They are strong, yes, but for now you are the only reference they have. Hold on to God and be the “Abraham” of your home, which through his actions showed his strength.

Till next time. In faith!
