Health : How to react to what did not happen…

The end of the year has come … and you look at your health and sigh…

Oh! If I had had more time…
Oh! If I had done more exercise…
Oh! If I had changed my eating habits earlier…
Oh! If I had heard the doctor’s advice…
Oh! If I had sacrificed my will…
Oh! If I had been born in a different family…
Oh! If my metabolism was different…
Oh! If I had conditions…

Among many other “oh, if’s…”
Oh! If I had studied more…
Oh! If I had not made that mistake…
Oh! If I were that person and had that opportunity.

Unfortunately, many only see that their lives could be different after losing and suffering from the results of their actions. And then, the frustration comes from not having achieved what they wanted and finally end up focusing more on what they have not reached, instead of understanding where and how they should do/act differently.

Continuing lamenting and wondering in your interior will not help you, but will only leave you even more deep in your emotions and feelings, thus overshadowing your potential.

Do not give up so easily until you reach your goal. On the road you may find dead ends but do not stop there, turn around and look for the street that will lead you to victory. No giving-up, that is for the weak!

Learning from mistakes

The master leads his apprentice through the forest. Although older, he walks with sameness, while his apprentice slips and falls at all times.

The apprentice blasphemes, gets up and “cusses”, curses the treacherous ground and continues to follow his master.

After a long walk, they reached a sacred place. Without stopping, the master turns around and begins the journey back.

– You didn’t teach me anything today – said the apprentice, taking another tumble.

– I taught you, but you do not seem to learn – replied the master – I’m trying to teach you how to deal with the mistakes of life.

– And how do you deal with them?

– The way you should deal with your tumbles – replied the master – Instead of continuing to curse the place where you fell, you should look for what made you slip.

See you next week …

  1. Dear Mrs Katia,

Thanks for the post. As I was reading it, I was thinking about the motive behind what we do. We will only achieve our goals if we have an inner drive to doing it and not to do to compare myself with so and so or to please someone because if we do so, we will soon give up whenever we come across obstacles.
