\nYou can\u2019t even imagine how much “giving” does me good. Just like it has benefited all of you, it has done me so good to talk about Jacob\u2019s life. The reason is because both you and I are souls and therefore we’re on this journey together.
\n\u00a0
\n“Now Jacob lifted his eyes and looked, and there, Esau was coming, and with him were four hundred men. So he divided the children among Leah, Rachel, and the two maidservants.\u00a0And he put the maidservants and their children in front, Leah and her children behind, and Rachel and Joseph last.\u00a0Then he crossed over before them and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.\u201d <\/em> (Gn. 33: 1-3)

\nJacob had already wrestled with God, who had changed his name to Israel. But now, he had to face the bigger problem…

\nEven if I have fought a battle with God it doesn\u2019t mean I don\u2019t have to fight against whatever I still consider to be a “giant” in my life.
\n\u00a0
\nWhen he went out to meet his brother he took his whole family and all of his belongings. He could\u2019ve left everything and everyone in a safe place where no one could find them, but he risked everything he had.
\n\u00a0
\nJacob faced his \u201cgiant\u201d when he saw Esau approaching him with four hundred men, much more than what he had.
\n\u00a0
\n“\u2026 And he put the maidservants and their children in front, Leah and her children behind, and Rachel and Joseph last\u2026\u201d<\/em>
\n\u00a0
\nIn the front row he put the maidservants and their children, then Leah and her children and lastly, Rachel and Joseph. His wife who was sterile and only after many years gave birth to Joseph his beloved son were more important to him, so therefore, he put them at the end.
\n\u00a0
\nHis greatest sacrifice was what he loved the most. This is important!
\n\u00a0
\nWhatever you love the most is your greatest sacrifice!
\n\u00a0
\nYou value, for example, your mother because she lived with you through difficult times, she \u201csuffered\u201d in your favor. Or you might value a true friendship, in which both have sacrificed in order to have this relationship.
\nWhen two people give themselves not only for a friendship, but also sacrifice in favor of that relationship then that\u2019s true love.
\n\u00a0

\nWho was willing? Who had fought with God?

\nJacob!

\nThose who fight with God, because they believe in their sacrifice move forward. He or she doesn\u2019t expect God to take action in their behalf, but is willing to resolve any pending issues from the past anything that was still left behind.
