{"id":3064,"date":"2015-07-24T09:03:28","date_gmt":"2015-07-24T09:03:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vivianefreitas.com\/en\/?p=3064"},"modified":"2015-07-30T09:08:13","modified_gmt":"2015-07-30T09:08:13","slug":"selfishness-the-feeling-that-blinds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vivianefreitas.com\/en\/selfishness-the-feeling-that-blinds\/","title":{"rendered":"Selfishness: the feeling that blinds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>When my &#8220;I&#8221; and my pride were put aside, I then could put myself in my son\u2019s place, and the first thing I saw was a mother who was looking at her own pain and therefore could never see him.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gabriel disappointed me because of his limitations, his stresses made me feel the worst mother in the world and because of that, I felt I had the right to look inside me. From then on, the distance between us began to exist, until one day I thought, &#8220;Why should I be this kind of mother? A mother who can\u2019t understand and help her child?&#8221; How selfish!<\/p>\n<p>I decided to change!!! To leave my &#8220;I&#8221; and my shaken feelings aside, in order to be able to pass to my son a certainty that, in spite of his mistakes, everything was fine! I loved him anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Not letting myself be shaken, in order to convey to Gabi the tranquility of forgiveness and the certainty that he would have a new chance, was a great victory for me, and a key point to the beginning of major changes on his part.<\/p>\n<p>My mother friend, we feel things like everyone else, but we need to know how to nullify our feelings to the point of ignoring them, so that we can help our children.
