{"id":2753,"date":"2015-05-27T09:00:58","date_gmt":"2015-05-27T09:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vivianefreitas.com\/en\/?p=2753"},"modified":"2015-05-28T16:58:38","modified_gmt":"2015-05-28T16:58:38","slug":"how-to-prevent-a-urinary-infection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vivianefreitas.com\/en\/how-to-prevent-a-urinary-infection\/","title":{"rendered":"How to prevent a urinary infection?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>What precautions should be taken in order to prevent urinary infections?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>As we spoke about in last week\u2019s post, urinary tract infections &#8220;UTI&#8221; are caused by bacteria and viruses, and women are more prone to them than men for anatomical reasons.<\/p>\n<p><em>How can I avoid it?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This is exactly what we will talk about this week &#8230; <strong>prevention<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>Like everything in life, prevention is better than treatment, especially when it comes to our health.<br \/>\nHere are some very useful tips to keep us away from &#8220;UTIs&#8221;:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drink 1.5 liters to 2 liters of water per day<\/li>\n<li>Do not go many hours without going to the bathroom, holding your urine<\/li>\n<li>When urinating, always clean yourself from front to back<\/li>\n<li>Wash when you have a bowel movement<\/li>\n<li>After intercourse, take time to urinate and wash yourself<\/li>\n<li>Give preference to showers instead of baths<\/li>\n<li>Use cotton underwear and not synthetic<\/li>\n<li>Avoiding using of pads daily for long periods of time<\/li>\n<li>Do not self-medicate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These are tips on how to prevent &#8220;UTIs&#8221;, however, if you notice you have any of the symptoms mentioned in the previous post you should go to the doctor for an evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>It is always important to note that when we have medical assistance we should follow every guideline, do every test that\u2019s requested, and take medication until the end.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve heard many people several times say that as soon as they feel better they stop taking the medication.
